Open to all levels. Newbies and veterans will take away new skills and a deeper understanding of biologically-integrated and beautiful gardening.
Seed Starting: Saturday September 19th, 2pm-5pm
Always the most popular, and back for a third year, together, we will sow some cottage-garden classics as well as learn techniques for the trickier, more challenging flower seeds. Participants will leave with their own seed starting tray set and information to take home. Hosted in mid-city studio.
The Year Round Bouquet : Saturday September 26th, 3pm-6pm
*NEW* Are you a home gardener looking to keep cut flowers in your garden year-round? Together we'll learn how to level up from your everyday basic bouquet! We will review the basics of floral design (remember thriller, filler, spiller?); great perennial cuts; which types of ingredients to grow in balanced proportions; and when to sow each flower to ensure continuous blooms for you and yours (and the bees!). We will also cover the fundamentals of harvest and post-harvest best practices. Dialed-in resources to understand seasonal flower growing will be included. Hosted in mid-city studio.
Soil Building and Composting methods: Sunday October 4th, 3pm-6pm
*NEW* This is the class to take if you're looking to improve the soil health of your current garden beds, or are looking to start a new garden area from scratch. We will review several different soil building processes, and easy to follow methods to build rich, active, healthy soil using local, low-no cost local materials. Together we will cover composting chemistry basics; sheet/lasagna composting; Hugelkultur; using cover crops and tarps; companion planting; and double digging. Participants will leave with in-depth resource documents. Hosted in mid-city studio.
